Near Earth space plasma monitoring under COST 296 This review paper presents the main achievements of the near Earth space plasma monitoring under COST 296 Action. The outputs of the COST 296 community making data, historical and real-time, standardized and available\ to the ionospheric community for their research, applications and modeling purposes are presented. The contribution\ of COST 296 with the added value of the validated data made possible a trusted ionospheric monitoring\ for research and modeling purposes, and it served for testing and ... The intense level of solar activity recorded from 16 to 23 January 2005 led to a series of events with different signatures at the Earth s ionospheric distances. Measurements of the critical frequency of the F 2 layer f o F 2 and the vertical total electron content (VTEC) are used to describe the temporal and spatial electron density distributions during this space weather event, which gives an excellent opportunity to test regional VTEC maps over Europe under such disturbed solar-terrestrial conditions. In this context, the ... Orus, R; Cander, Lj; Hernandez-Pajares, M; Published by: Radio Science Published on: YEAR: 2007   DOI: 10.1029/2006RS003515 |
