Explicit IMF By-Dependence in Geomagnetic Activity: Quantifying Ionospheric Electrodynamics

Geomagnetic activity is mainly driven by the southward (Bz) component of the interplanetary magnetic field (IMF), which dominates all solar wind coupling functions.
