Ionospheric response of St. Patrick’s Day geomagnetic storm over Indian low latitude regions The current work shows the ionospheric response to an intense geomagnetic storm known as St. Patrick’s Day storm which occurred from 17-22 March 2015 using the ionospheric Chaurasiya, Sunil; Patel, Kalpana; Kumar, Sanjay; Singh, Abhay; Published by: Astrophysics and Space Science Published on: YEAR: 2022   DOI: 10.1007/s10509-022-04137-3 |

In this paper, echo occurrence rates for the Dome C East (DCE) and the new Dome C North (DCN) radars are studied. We report the ionospheric and ground scatter echo occurrence rates for selected periods around equinoxes and solstices in the final part of the solar cycle XXIV. The occurrence maps built in Altitude Adjusted Corrected Geomagnetic latitude and Magnetic Local Time coordinates show peculiar patterns highly variable with season. The comparisons of the radar observations with the International Reference Ionosphere mo ... Our aim is to understand the effect of high-speed stream events on the high-latitude ionosphere and more specifically the decrease of the foF2 frequency during the entire day following the impact. First, we have selected one summertime event, for which a large data set was available: Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) and European Incoherent SCATter (EISCAT) radars, Troms\o and Sodankylä ionosondes, and the CHAllenging Minisatellite Payload (CHAMP) satellite. We ... The August 2011 URSI World Day campaign: Initial results During a 10-day URSI World Day observational campaign beginning on August 1, 2011, an isolated, major geomagnetic storm occurred. On August 5,\ Kp\ reached values of 8-and\ Dst\ dropped to -113\ nT. The occurrence of this isolated storm in the middle of a 10-day URSI World Day campaign provides and unprecedented opportunity to observe the coupling of solar wind energy into the magnetosphere and to evaluate the varied effects that occur in the coupled magnetosphere\text ...
